Week 76: Fall Session start

Last weekend all Sophia's regular classes started for the fall session. I took her to the Park Slope Public Library on Friday morning for the book reading session. Because it was rainy, more than 40 kids showed up in the toddler's book reading time. It was too noisy. We didn't finish it and Sophia was very tired. I don't think I will take half day off for the book reading session any more. Saturday morning was her Gym and Swimming time. Sunday was her Music Together sing time. She has been in these two classes for more than 8 month. We really can see the change in Sophia.

Last week we decided our family travel for the rest of the year. We will go to China from Oct. 5th to Oct. 14th. We will go to Club Med in Florida Sandpiper from Nov. 25th to Dec. 2nd. On Thursday I spend 4k for the travel tickets... These will be Sophia's big trip in the next two month.

Sophia now only take one nap in the day time. One day she said" how are you". It's not very clear. But She tried to repeat more words from us. One Sunday she climbed on top of the little table. She wanted to climb up to the sideboard from there. I stood there and didn't let her climb. She started dancing on the table. After a while, she clapped her hand, said " bravo"!

Week 75: Showing off and faking it

Last Monday we took Sophia and Grandma to Manhattan. We went to Central Park and Time Warner Center. When we were at the Time Warner Center 4 th floor over look at the Central Park, Sophia sit on her new Tricycle and play around. We were about to leave when two boys came to the floor with their parents. Suddenly Sophia insist to get off her tricycle. She walked toward the class wall, holding her dress slightly up and turning around. She wanted to get attention from the boys about her beautiful dress. It seems she didn't get what she want. She came back and sit on her tricycle. I over heard the boy said to his father " I want her toys."... Poor Sophia didn't know a 3 year old boy more into others' toy than girl's dress. ;)

Last Friday Sophia's grandma had dinner with us at Steinhoff on 14th st. Sophia love that restaurant a lot. Her first dine out experience was there when she was one month old. She loves bread and steam vegetables. She got bore for sitting there too long while we were still eating. Oliver and I rotate to take her out and walk in front of the restaurant. I played a game with her. We both hold a toy. She wanted mine. I told her I would give her mine if I got hers. But she wanted both of them. I didn't gave to her. She started crying. I saw no tear came out. So I asked " are you faking it?". She stopped cry and look at me for a minute and cried again. A guy who was stand near us said " I see it. She is faking it". She stopped faking cry and walk away. A little girl at this age already know how to play mental game with mom. I need to be very careful...

Because last week Grandma visited us for a week. We put a little mattress for Sophia next to our bed. I figured that she often wake up once in the night to pee. So I put potty next to our bed and helped her in the night to sit on the potty. It worked out very nice. Her diaper was dry all night and she sleeps very well.

Week 74: Grandma visiting and new toy -- tricycle

I got baby Einstein DVD for Sophia from eBay. Lately every morning she wakes up around 6:30 am. I gave her 10 oz milk that she will drink in the bed. (One night she woke up around 5 am. I carried her to my bed and went back to sleep. She tapped my arm and said "milk") She gets off the bed for the bathroom then she goes in front of the TV, pointes to her boost chair and says to me "sit". I play little animal DVD for her and she can quietly sit there watch it for 10 - 15 minute. I use the time to prepare breakfast. While I'm preparing breakfast, I put some crackers and juice on her table. She will eat those while waiting for the hot meal. She likes corn hot cereal, pancake, and steam egg.

Last week Michael and Michelle came back from their vacation. They came to our place for a play date. When they were on vacation, Sophia will play with other kids in front of the building around 6:30 pm for 20 minutes. Other kids are 3 years old. She run with them and carried my little handbag at the same time. The way she runs was very funny.

Last weekend Sophia's German grandma came to visit us. Over the weekend her big mission was to buy a tricycle for Sophia. We let Sophia tried tricycle in different stores. It was so hard to drag her out off the toy store. We finally got it from Toy R US in Time Square.
